About this exercise

Shoulder flexion is a foundational mobility exercise that raises the arm forward and upward, moving through the full range of motion at the shoulder joint. It engages the anterior deltoid and helps develop overhead mobility and joint awareness.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart and arms at your sides
  • Keep your elbow straight and slowly raise one arm forward and upward
  • Continue lifting until the arm points straight up or as high as your range allows
  • Pause at the top, then lower the arm back down in a controlled manner
  • Alternate sides or complete all reps on one side before switching
