About this exercise

The seated quadriceps stretch targets the rectus femoris and other quad muscles by flexing the knee and extending the hip from a seated position on the floor. Regular practice improves quad flexibility, reduces knee tension, and aids recovery after leg training.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor with one leg extended straight in front of you
  • Bend the other knee and bring that heel toward your glute, sitting on the side of your hip if needed
  • Gently press the bent knee toward the floor to deepen the stretch in the quad and hip flexor
  • Sit tall and avoid arching your lower back excessively
  • Hold the stretch for the target duration, breathing slowly and deeply
  • Release and switch to the other leg
