About this exercise

The Seated Leg Raise is a core exercise performed while seated on a bench or chair, where both legs are lifted together to engage the lower abs and hip flexors. It is an accessible movement that can be performed with minimal equipment.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the edge of a bench with your hands gripping the sides for support
  • Lean back slightly and extend your legs out in front of you
  • Keeping your legs straight and together, raise them until they are parallel to the floor or higher
  • Hold briefly at the top, squeezing your abs
  • Slowly lower your legs back toward the starting position without letting them touch the ground
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions while maintaining a tight core
