EasyCalves

About this exercise

A seated static stretch for the calf muscles, particularly the soleus, which is best targeted with the knee bent. Performed on the floor with legs extended or with a bent knee, this accessible stretch improves ankle flexibility and relieves tightness after training.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor with one or both legs extended straight in front of you
  • Loop a towel, resistance band, or stretching strap around the ball of the foot
  • Sit tall and gently pull the strap toward you, flexing the foot so the toes point toward your shin
  • Hold the stretch, breathing steadily and relaxing into the position
  • For a deeper soleus stretch, bend the knee slightly before pulling the foot back
  • Release and switch sides if stretching one leg at a time
