About this exercise

A self-myofascial release technique targeting the iliopsoas (deep hip flexor) using a foam roller, helping to relieve tension in the front of the hip that commonly builds from prolonged sitting or heavy squatting.

How to Perform

  • Lie face down and place the foam roller horizontally under one hip, positioning it just below the hip bone in the crease of the groin
  • Support yourself on your forearms with your core lightly engaged
  • Slowly shift your weight to roll along the length of the iliopsoas, moving from the hip crease toward the upper groin
  • Pause on any tight or tender areas for 20–30 seconds until the tension eases
  • Bend and extend the knee of the rolling side to increase or decrease intensity
  • Repeat on the opposite side
