About this exercise

The Ring Triceps Extension is a bodyweight pushing exercise performed on gymnastic rings. Leaning forward with arms extended, you bend at the elbows to lower your forehead toward the rings, then press back up, intensely loading the triceps through a long range of motion.

How to Perform

  • Set the rings to roughly hip height and grip them with palms facing each other
  • Walk your feet back and lean your body forward so it is at an angle, arms fully extended
  • Keep your body in a straight line from head to heels and brace your core
  • Slowly bend your elbows and allow them to flare slightly as you lower your forehead toward the rings
  • Stop when your elbows are at roughly 90 degrees or your forehead is near the rings
  • Press through your hands to extend your elbows and return to the starting position
