About this exercise

The Ring Front Lever is an advanced calisthenics skill performed on gymnastic rings where the body is held horizontally face-up with arms straight, parallel to the ground. It demands extreme pulling strength and total-body tension, heavily recruiting the lats, core, and posterior chain to maintain the rigid horizontal position.

How to Perform

  • Hang from the gymnastic rings with an overhand grip, arms fully extended
  • Engage your core, glutes, and legs so your entire body is rigid
  • Press down on the rings and pull your shoulder blades back and down
  • Slowly lower your body into the horizontal position, face pointing up
  • Keep your arms completely straight and your body in a straight line from head to toe
  • Hold the position for the desired duration, maintaining full-body tension
  • Return to the starting hang position under control
