About this exercise

The Quick Feet Run is a high-cadence cardio drill where you sprint with very short, rapid steps, keeping your feet close to the ground and your weight forward. It improves foot speed, neuromuscular coordination, and cardiovascular conditioning, and is commonly used in athletic warm-ups and HIIT circuits.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet hip-width apart, knees slightly bent, and arms bent at 90 degrees
  • Lean slightly forward and begin sprinting in place or across a short distance with extremely fast, short steps
  • Keep your foot contacts brief — your feet should barely leave the ground
  • Pump your arms rapidly in sync with your legs to maintain rhythm
  • Stay on the balls of your feet throughout and avoid flat-footed landings
  • Continue for the prescribed time or distance, then decelerate gradually to a stop
