About this exercise

The quadruped leg curl is a bodyweight exercise performed on hands and knees that isolates the hamstrings through knee flexion. It is an accessible, joint-friendly movement for strengthening the back of the thighs without any equipment.

How to Perform

  • Start on all fours with your hands directly under your shoulders and knees under your hips
  • Keep your back flat and core braced throughout the movement
  • Lift one knee slightly off the floor, keeping the leg bent at 90 degrees
  • Curl your heel toward your glute by flexing your knee as far as possible
  • Hold the contraction briefly at the top
  • Slowly lower your foot back toward the floor without letting it touch, then repeat
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
