About this exercise

A dynamic bodyweight exercise that combines a standard push-up with a jumping jack leg movement. As you lower into the push-up, you jump your feet out wide, and as you press back up, you jump them back together — adding a cardio and core challenge to traditional upper-body pressing work.

How to Perform

  • Start in a high plank position with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width and feet together
  • Brace your core and keep your body in a straight line from head to heels
  • Begin to lower your chest toward the floor while simultaneously jumping both feet out wide
  • Pause briefly at the bottom with feet wide
  • Press back up to the starting position while jumping your feet back together
  • Land softly with feet together and immediately repeat for the next rep
  • Keep your hips level throughout — avoid letting them sag or pike up

About the Push-Up Jack

The Push-Up Jack is a foundational movement that builds strength and muscle through controlled, progressive overload. Train it 1 to 2 times per week with 3 to 5 working sets per session, gradually adding weight or reps as form holds up.
