About this exercise

A hip and groin mobility stretch performed in a deep squat stance where you use your elbows to push the knees outward. It opens the hips, stretches the inner thighs and adductors, and is an excellent warm-up before lower-body training.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet slightly wider than shoulder-width and toes turned outward
  • Lower into a deep squat and place both elbows on the inside of your knees
  • Press your elbows outward against your knees to gently push them apart and open the hips
  • Keep your chest tall, spine neutral, and heels flat on the floor
  • Hold the stretched position for the desired duration, breathing steadily throughout
