About this exercise

A dynamic plank variation that combines active scapular protraction with a jumping-jack leg movement. The protracted position keeps the serratus anterior and core under constant tension while the leg jacks add cardiovascular demand and hip-adductor/abductor challenge.

How to Perform

  • Start in a forearm plank with elbows under your shoulders and body in a straight line
  • Actively push your upper back toward the ceiling by spreading your shoulder blades apart (protraction) — maintain this throughout
  • Jump both feet out wide to the sides simultaneously
  • Jump both feet back together to the center
  • Keep your hips level and avoid letting them rise or sag
  • Continue the jack motion for the prescribed reps while holding the protracted plank
