About this exercise

The prone I stretch is a floor-based passive stretch performed face down with the arms extended overhead in a straight line, forming an "I" shape with the body. It opens the shoulders, stretches the lats, and gently decompresses the lower back.

How to Perform

  • Lie face down on the floor with legs straight and together
  • Extend both arms fully overhead, shoulder-width apart, with palms facing down
  • Press your forehead lightly toward the floor and keep the neck neutral
  • Gently reach long through your fingertips to elongate the entire body
  • Hold the position and breathe deeply, allowing the shoulders and lats to relax
  • Release and return to the starting position when done
