About this exercise

An isometric chest exercise where the palms are pressed firmly together in a prayer position and the tension is sustained for a timed hold. The sustained co-contraction activates the pectorals and anterior deltoids without any equipment.

How to Perform

  • Stand or sit tall and bring your palms together in front of your chest, fingers pointing upward (prayer position)
  • Press your palms firmly against each other, creating maximum tension through the chest and inner pec line
  • Hold the contraction for the prescribed duration while breathing steadily
  • Keep your elbows raised to approximately shoulder height and shoulders down away from your ears
  • Release the tension slowly at the end of the hold
