About this exercise

The Power Up Jump is an explosive plyometric exercise that starts from a low squat position and drives into a maximal vertical jump. It develops lower-body power and explosive strength while conditioning the cardiovascular system.

How to Perform

  • Begin in a low squat position with feet shoulder-width apart and hands in front of your chest
  • Sink into the squat until your thighs are at or below parallel
  • Explosively drive through your heels and extend your hips, knees, and ankles simultaneously
  • Jump as high as possible, reaching your arms overhead at the peak
  • Land softly with bent knees, absorbing the impact
  • Lower immediately back into the starting squat position
  • Repeat with maximum effort on each rep

The Power Up Jump is a foundational movement that builds strength and muscle through controlled, progressive overload. Train it 1 to 2 times per week with 3 to 5 working sets per session, gradually adding weight or reps as form holds up.
