About this exercise

The Plate Push is a full-body conditioning drill where you drive a weight plate across the floor from a low, forward-lean position. It simultaneously challenges the upper-body push muscles, hip extensors, and cardiovascular system.

How to Perform

  • Place a weight plate flat on a smooth floor and get into a low push-up-like position with both hands on the plate
  • Keep your core braced and your hips low, generating drive from your legs while pushing through your hands
  • Push the plate forward by taking short, rapid steps with your feet while maintaining the forward lean
  • Keep your back flat and elbows slightly bent throughout the movement
  • Push for the prescribed distance or time, then reset and repeat
