About this exercise

A compound exercise performed in a high plank position with one hand gripping a dumbbell. Rowing the weight toward the hip while stabilising the body challenges the lats and core simultaneously, making it an efficient full-body strength movement.

How to Perform

  • Place a dumbbell on the floor and assume a high plank position with feet shoulder-width apart, one hand on the dumbbell and the other flat on the floor
  • Brace your core and glutes to keep your hips level and your body in a straight line
  • Row the dumbbell up toward your hip, leading with your elbow and keeping it close to your torso
  • At the top, pause briefly and squeeze your lat
  • Lower the dumbbell back to the floor under control
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch arms
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions on each side
