About this exercise

Jogging in Place is a simple cardiovascular exercise performed without moving forward, making it ideal as a warm-up, active rest, or standalone conditioning drill. It elevates the heart rate by alternating leg drives while keeping the torso upright. The exercise requires no equipment and can be done in any space.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with your feet hip-width apart and arms relaxed at your sides
  • Shift your weight onto one foot and drive the opposite knee upward to approximately hip height
  • Land softly on the ball of that foot and immediately switch to the other leg
  • Bend your elbows at roughly 90 degrees and swing your arms in opposition to your legs
  • Maintain an upright torso and keep your core lightly engaged throughout
  • Continue alternating legs at a steady jogging pace for the target duration
