About this exercise

A reactive lateral agility drill performed with a partner, where both athletes mirror each other's shuffles side to side. It trains lower-body power, lateral quickness, and the ability to read and respond to another person's movements.

How to Perform

  • Face your partner at a distance of about one metre, both in an athletic stance with knees slightly bent
  • One partner initiates a lateral shuffle to the right while the other mirrors the movement to their left
  • Push off the outside foot to drive each shuffle, keeping steps quick and controlled
  • Stay low throughout — avoid standing up between shuffles
  • Change direction on the initiating partner's signal or spontaneously to increase the reactive challenge
  • Continue for the prescribed duration, then switch roles

About the Partner Shuffle
