About this exercise

The Overhead Knee Raise is a standing bodyweight drill where you drive each knee up toward your chest while keeping both arms extended overhead. The combination of arm position and high knee drive demands core bracing, hip flexor strength, and coordination, making it an effective warm-up and conditioning movement.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and both arms extended straight overhead
  • Engage your core and maintain an upright posture throughout the movement
  • Drive your right knee up toward your chest while keeping your arms overhead
  • Lower the right foot back to the floor with control
  • Drive your left knee up in the same manner
  • Alternate legs in a rhythmic, controlled pace
  • Continue alternating for the desired number of repetitions
