About this exercise

Oblique crunches target the muscles along the sides of your waist, helping to build core strength and define the obliques.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor
  • Place your hands lightly behind your head with your elbows out
  • Drop both knees to one side so your lower body is rotated
  • Curl your upper body up toward your hip, contracting your obliques
  • Pause and squeeze at the top of the movement
  • Lower back down with control and complete all reps before switching sides
