About this exercise

The mountain climber plank is a dynamic bodyweight exercise performed in a high plank position, alternating rapid knee drives toward the chest. It builds core strength and stability while also delivering a cardiovascular challenge.

How to Perform

  • Start in a high plank position with hands directly under your shoulders and body forming a straight line
  • Engage your core and keep your hips level throughout the movement
  • Drive your right knee toward your chest in a quick, controlled motion
  • Return your right foot to the starting position as you simultaneously drive your left knee forward
  • Continue alternating legs at a steady pace while maintaining a stable plank
  • Keep your lower back flat and avoid letting your hips rise or sag
