About this exercise

The Mini Squat Hop is a low-impact plyometric exercise that combines a shallow squat with a small vertical hop, building lower body power and cardiovascular endurance. The reduced squat depth makes it accessible for beginners or as a warm-up movement while still activating the quadriceps, glutes, and calves.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and toes slightly turned out
  • Bend your knees into a shallow squat, lowering only about a quarter of the way down
  • Keep your chest up and core engaged
  • Push through both feet and hop lightly off the ground
  • Land softly with slightly bent knees, immediately absorbing impact through the hips
  • Transition directly into the next squat and hop without pausing
  • Maintain a steady, rhythmic pace throughout the set
