About this exercise

The Max Speed Uppercut trains explosive punching velocity by executing uppercuts at maximum effort and speed. It challenges neuromuscular recruitment, shoulder power, and cardiovascular conditioning, making it a staple in boxing conditioning circuits.

How to Perform

  • Stand in a boxing stance with feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and both hands raised to guard position
  • Load your punching hand by dropping it slightly near your hip
  • Push explosively through your legs and rotate your hips sharply upward to generate power
  • Drive the uppercut in a vertical arc at maximum speed, aiming chin height on an imaginary target
  • Snap your fist back to guard position immediately after the punch
  • Keep your non-punching hand protecting your chin throughout
  • Repeat as fast as possible while maintaining proper form for the desired number of repetitions or rounds
