About this exercise

The Lying Toe Touch is a bodyweight abdominal exercise performed on the floor, where you raise your legs to vertical and crunch upward to reach your toes with your fingertips. It provides a strong peak contraction of the rectus abdominis and a mild stretch to the hamstrings.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back and raise both legs to a vertical position, perpendicular to the floor
  • Keep your legs as straight as possible throughout the movement
  • Reach your arms up toward the ceiling, parallel to your legs
  • Exhale and crunch your upper back off the floor, reaching your fingertips toward your toes
  • Hold the contraction at the top for a moment
  • Slowly lower your upper back back to the floor while keeping your legs raised
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
