EasyQuadriceps

About this exercise

The lying quadriceps stretch performed on your side targets the front of the thigh by pulling the heel toward the glutes while lying on one side. It is an effective way to improve flexibility in the quadriceps and hip flexors, ideal as a cool-down or mobility drill.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your side on a mat with your body in a straight line, head resting on your lower arm
  • Bend your top knee and reach back with your top hand to grasp your ankle or foot
  • Gently pull your heel toward your glutes until you feel a stretch along the front of your thigh
  • Keep your knees together and your hips stacked to prevent the lower back from arching
  • Hold the stretch for the desired duration, breathing steadily
  • Release slowly, then switch sides and repeat with the other leg
