About this exercise

The lying leg curl isolates the hamstrings, building strength and size in the back of the thighs. Lying face down on the machine keeps the movement strict and removes help from other muscle groups.

How to Perform

  • Lie face down on the machine with the padded lever resting against the back of your ankles
  • Grip the handles and keep your hips pressed into the pad
  • Curl your heels up toward your glutes by bending your knees
  • Squeeze your hamstrings at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower the weight back to the starting position under control
  • Avoid letting the weight rest between reps
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
