About this exercise

A beginner-friendly bodyweight abdominal exercise performed flat on the floor where you draw both knees toward your chest to contract the abs and hip flexors. The limited range of motion makes it accessible for those building core strength while reducing stress on the lower back compared to straight-leg raises.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back on a mat with legs extended and arms at your sides or palms pressing lightly on the floor
  • Engage your core and press your lower back into the floor
  • Bend both knees and draw them toward your chest in a controlled motion
  • Pause when your knees reach your chest, squeezing your abs
  • Slowly lower your feet back toward the floor while keeping them slightly elevated
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps without letting your feet touch the floor between reps
