About this exercise

The lying cycle is a bodyweight abdominal exercise performed on your back where you pedal both legs in a continuous cycling motion, alternating the knees toward the chest. It challenges the abs and obliques while promoting hip flexor mobility.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with hands lightly behind your head and legs raised off the floor
  • Engage your core and press your lower back into the floor
  • Bend your right knee and draw it toward your chest while extending your left leg out
  • Switch legs in a smooth cycling motion, alternating continuously
  • Keep the movement controlled and avoid letting your lower back arch off the floor
