About this exercise

A floor-based stretch that opens the thoracic spine and chest while releasing tension in the mid and lower back. By lying on your back and gently extending or rotating the spine, you improve spinal mobility and counteract the effects of prolonged sitting.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back on a mat with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor
  • Extend both arms out to the sides at shoulder height, palms facing up
  • Allow your knees to slowly drop to one side toward the floor while keeping your shoulders flat
  • Turn your head gently in the opposite direction to deepen the spinal rotation
  • Hold the stretch and breathe deeply, letting the back release with each exhale
  • Slowly return to the center and repeat on the opposite side
