About this exercise

The lever shoulder press is a plate-loaded machine exercise that presses resistance overhead in a fixed arc, targeting the front deltoids and triceps. The machine's guided path reduces stabilizer demand, making it effective for overloading the shoulders safely.

How to Perform

  • Load the desired weight plates onto the machine and adjust the seat so the handles are at shoulder height
  • Sit upright and grip the handles with an overhand grip, shoulders relaxed
  • Press the handles upward in a controlled arc until your arms are nearly fully extended — do not lock out the elbows
  • Pause briefly at the top, then slowly lower the handles back to shoulder level
  • Maintain an upright torso and avoid arching the lower back excessively
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
