About this exercise

The lever pullover (plate loaded) is a machine exercise that sweeps the arms in a long arc overhead and down toward the hips, stretching and contracting the latissimus dorsi through a wide range of motion. The plate-loaded lever mechanism provides progressive resistance and a consistent movement path.

How to Perform

  • Load the appropriate weight plates onto the machine
  • Sit on the machine pad and position your upper arms against the roller pads
  • Grip the bar or handles and let the arms rise to the start position with lats under stretch
  • Pull the lever downward and forward in a smooth arc, driving your elbows toward your hips
  • Continue until the pads reach hip level and you feel a full lat contraction
  • Slowly return to the stretched starting position under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
