About this exercise

The lever lying crunch is a machine-based abdominal exercise performed lying on a weighted lever apparatus. It isolates the rectus abdominis by curling the torso against resistance, reducing hip flexor involvement compared to floor crunches.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the machine and select the appropriate weight
  • Lie on the machine pad with your shins or feet secured under the roller pads
  • Grasp the handles positioned above or beside your head
  • Contract your abs and curl your torso upward toward your knees in a controlled arc
  • Hold the contraction briefly at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower your torso back to the starting position under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
