About this exercise

The lever chest press is a plate-loaded machine exercise that targets the chest muscles through a horizontal pushing motion. The lever arm provides a natural arc of movement, allowing for controlled loading and a strong muscle contraction at the top of the press.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the seat height so the handles align with the middle of your chest
  • Sit upright with your back firmly against the pad and feet flat on the floor
  • Grip the handles with an overhand grip, elbows slightly below shoulder height
  • Press the handles forward and together until your arms are nearly fully extended
  • Pause briefly at full extension, squeezing the chest
  • Slowly return the handles to the starting position under control
