Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Lever Biceps Curl.

MediumBiceps

About this exercise

A machine-based biceps curl performed on a lever preacher bench that locks the upper arms in place, isolating the biceps through the full range of motion. The fixed pad eliminates cheating and keeps constant tension on the muscle throughout each rep.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the seat height so your upper arms rest flat on the angled pad with elbows aligned with the machine's pivot point
  • Grip the handles with an underhand (supinated) grip
  • Sit upright and press your upper arms firmly against the pad
  • Curl the handles upward by flexing your elbows until your forearms are nearly vertical
  • Squeeze the biceps at the top of the movement
  • Lower the handles slowly under control until your arms are fully extended
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
