About this exercise

The Leg Extension Crunch with Stability Ball combines an abdominal crunch with a simultaneous leg extension while gripping a stability ball between the feet. The added instability challenges core engagement and extends the range of motion through the rectus abdominis.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back and grip a stability ball between your feet with knees bent toward your chest
  • Place your hands lightly behind your head or across your chest
  • Simultaneously crunch your upper body forward and extend your legs straight, keeping the ball held firmly
  • Hold the contracted position briefly, feeling the abs fully squeeze
  • Slowly return to the starting position, bending your knees and lowering your upper body
  • Keep your lower back pressed toward the floor throughout the movement
