About this exercise

A wide-stance squat using a landmine-mounted barbell held with both hands in front of the chest. The angled barbell path encourages an upright torso and effectively loads the quads, glutes, and inner thighs with lower spinal stress compared to a back squat.

How to Perform

  • Load the barbell into a landmine attachment anchored at the floor
  • Stand facing the landmine with feet wider than shoulder-width apart, toes angled out
  • Grasp the end of the barbell with both hands and hold it at chest height
  • Brace your core and keep your chest up throughout the movement
  • Push your knees outward in line with your toes as you descend into the squat
  • Lower until your thighs are at least parallel to the floor
  • Drive through your heels to stand back up to the starting position
