About this exercise

A lower-body exercise in which you hold the free end of a landmine barbell at chest height and step one foot backward into a reverse lunge. The angled load shifts the centre of gravity forward and onto the front leg, intensifying quadriceps engagement while the landmine also aids balance.

How to Perform

  • Secure a barbell in a landmine attachment and stand facing the free end, gripping it with both hands at chest height
  • Stand with feet hip-width apart and brace your core
  • Step one foot straight back and lower the back knee toward the floor, keeping the front shin close to vertical
  • Descend until the back knee nearly touches the ground
  • Drive through the front heel to stand back up and bring the rear foot forward to the starting position
  • Alternate legs each rep or complete all reps on one side before switching
