About this exercise

The landmine lateral raise is a unilateral shoulder exercise using the end of a barbell anchored in a landmine attachment. The arc of the barbell creates a unique resistance curve that challenges the lateral deltoid with constant tension and reduced joint stress compared to traditional dumbbell lateral raises.

How to Perform

  • Secure one end of a barbell in a landmine attachment on the floor
  • Stand sideways to the landmine with the working arm closest to it
  • Grip the end of the barbell with one hand, arm slightly bent at the elbow
  • Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart and brace your core
  • Raise the barbell in a wide arc out to the side until your arm reaches shoulder height
  • Pause briefly at the top, feeling the contraction in the lateral deltoid
  • Slowly lower the barbell back to the starting position under control
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching to the other
