About this exercise

The Landmine Deadlift is a hip-hinge movement performed by gripping the free end of a barbell secured in a landmine attachment. The angled bar path reduces spinal loading compared to a conventional deadlift while still effectively training the posterior chain.

How to Perform

  • Load and secure a barbell into a landmine attachment; stand facing the free end with feet hip-width apart
  • Grip the end of the barbell with both hands and position it at about shin height with knees slightly bent
  • Brace your core, keep your chest up, and hinge at the hips to lower the bar toward the floor
  • Drive through your heels and extend your hips and knees to stand tall, squeezing your glutes at the top
  • Maintain a neutral spine throughout; avoid rounding your lower back
  • Lower the bar under control back to the starting position for each rep
