About this exercise

The kneeling pulse is a bodyweight glute exercise performed on hands and knees. From a quadruped position, one leg is lifted and pulsed in small upward movements to maintain continuous tension on the glute. It is an effective isolation move for the glutes and hamstrings.

How to Perform

  • Start on all fours with your hands below your shoulders and knees below your hips
  • Lift one leg, bending the knee to 90 degrees so the sole of your foot faces the ceiling
  • Keeping the core braced and back flat, squeeze the glute and pulse the leg upward in small, controlled movements
  • Maintain the 90-degree knee bend throughout and avoid arching the lower back
  • Perform the desired number of pulses on one side before switching legs
