About this exercise

A floor-based mobility exercise that lengthens the latissimus dorsi and surrounding back muscles. Performed in a kneeling position with arms extended forward onto a surface, allowing gravity to deepen the stretch through the entire lat from armpit to hip.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on the floor in front of a bench or box and place both hands on the surface with arms extended
  • Sit your hips back toward your heels while keeping your arms outstretched
  • Allow your chest to drop toward the floor, feeling the stretch along the sides of your back
  • Hold the stretched position, breathing deeply to relax into it
  • Slowly return to the start position and repeat
