About this exercise

The Kneeling Fist Roll is a wrist and forearm mobility exercise performed from a kneeling position with closed fists on the floor. Rolling the fists forward and backward works through the full range of motion at the wrist joint, lubricating the joint and mobilizing both the flexor and extensor muscle groups. It is commonly used as a warm-up before heavy pressing or pulling movements.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on the floor and place both fists on the ground with knuckles down, shoulder-width apart
  • Keep your arms straight and your core braced
  • Slowly roll your fists forward, transitioning weight onto the front knuckles and feeling a stretch across the wrist
  • Continue rolling the fists backward, shifting weight to the rear of the knuckle line
  • Perform the rolling motion in a smooth, controlled rhythm for the desired number of repetitions
