About this exercise

A kneeling thoracic mobility drill where the elbows are used as a pivot point to open up the mid-back and lats. Placing the elbows on a surface and sinking the chest downward creates a passive extension and lateral stretch through the thoracic spine.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on the floor and place both elbows on a bench or the floor in front of you at shoulder width
  • Keep your hips stacked over your knees
  • Allow your chest to drop toward the floor, letting gravity extend your thoracic spine
  • Breathe in, then on the exhale sink deeper into the stretch
  • Hold briefly, then raise your chest back to the starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps, moving slowly and with control
