About this exercise

A kneeling mobility drill that opens up the thoracic spine by rotating one arm and shoulder toward the ceiling while the hips stay stable. Regular practice improves spinal rotation range of motion, eases upper back tightness, and supports better posture.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on all fours with your knees under your hips and your hands under your shoulders
  • Place one hand lightly behind your head, elbow pointing out to the side
  • Brace your core to keep your hips square and stable throughout the movement
  • Rotate your upper back and elbow toward the ceiling as far as comfortable
  • Hold the top position briefly, then return in a controlled manner
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching to the other arm
