About this exercise

A bodyweight glute isolation exercise performed on all fours where one leg is kicked backward and upward with the knee bent at 90 degrees. The movement targets the gluteus maximus through hip extension while the core stabilizes the spine against rotation.

How to Perform

  • Start on all fours with your hands under your shoulders and knees under your hips
  • Keep your core engaged and spine in a neutral position
  • Keeping the working knee bent at approximately 90 degrees, drive one heel toward the ceiling
  • Stop when your thigh is parallel to the floor or slightly above, avoiding lower-back arching
  • Squeeze the glute at the top of the movement
  • Slowly return the knee back to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching legs
