About this exercise

The kettlebell Russian twist is a seated rotational exercise that challenges the obliques and deep core muscles through full-range trunk rotation with added load. Elevating the feet increases the demand on the hip flexors and core stability.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor with knees bent and feet flat or slightly elevated off the ground
  • Hold the kettlebell with both hands in front of your chest, arms slightly bent
  • Lean back until your torso forms roughly a 45-degree angle with the floor
  • Brace your core and rotate your torso to the right, bringing the kettlebell beside your right hip
  • Return to center, then rotate to the left in a controlled manner
  • Continue alternating sides while keeping your spine neutral throughout
