About this exercise

A rotational core exercise performed lying on your back where you swing a kettlebell in a diagonal arc from one side to the other. It develops rotational trunk strength and oblique power while keeping the movement controlled and low-impact.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor
  • Hold a kettlebell with both hands and extend your arms straight up over your chest
  • Keeping your arms nearly straight, lower the kettlebell diagonally to one side toward the floor
  • Engage your obliques to pull the kettlebell back through the arc to the starting position overhead
  • Continue to the same side for the desired number of reps, then switch sides
  • Keep your lower back pressed into the floor and avoid rotating your hips during the movement
