About this exercise

The kettlebell leg raise is a lying core exercise that targets the abdominal muscles by raising straight legs against the resistance of a kettlebell secured between the feet. The added weight intensifies the movement compared to a standard leg raise, demanding greater abdominal and hip flexor strength.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with your arms at your sides or gripping a fixed anchor point behind your head
  • Secure a kettlebell between your feet by squeezing them together around the handle
  • Keep your legs straight and your lower back pressed firmly into the floor
  • Raise both legs upward until they are perpendicular to the floor
  • Slowly lower your legs back down, stopping just before your heels touch the floor
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions while keeping your core engaged throughout
