About this exercise

A shoulder isolation exercise performed with kettlebells, raising them out to the sides to develop the lateral deltoids and build overall shoulder width. The unique shape of the kettlebell shifts the center of gravity, adding a stability challenge compared to dumbbells.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a kettlebell in each hand at your sides with palms facing inward
  • Keep a slight bend in your elbows and brace your core
  • Raise the kettlebells out to your sides in a controlled arc until your arms reach shoulder height
  • Pause briefly at the top, keeping your wrists level with your elbows
  • Lower the kettlebells slowly back to the starting position under control
  • Avoid shrugging your shoulders or using momentum to lift
